Top 6 Tips To Care For Your Skin In Winter
As we transition into Winter, the changing weather means a new set of challenges for our skin. The colder temperatures and lower humidity levels result in dryer air that in turn draws moisture away from our skin and requires us to give a little more TLC to the faces we’ve nurtured through the warmer months! So, how do we ensure our skin doesn’t suffer?
1. Choose the right cleanser
Cleansers are designed to clean our skin, but some contain ingredients that strip away our natural oils and cause more damage than good. Avoid cleansers containing alcohols and harsh chemicals as they cause dryness, opting instead for a natural cleanser packed with ingredients that benefit your skin. A great example is the Ultra Purifying Gel Cleanser, containing Papaya, White Willow Bark & Pineapple to naturally cleanse and gently exfoliate, providing you with the perfect base to complete your skincare routine and amp up your hydration!
2. Up your water intake
When we think about our skin, we need to use a holistic view and ensure we’re working on the inside and the outside! Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring molecule in your skin cells that retain over 1,000 times its weight in water, and the more hydrated you are, the more these molecules help to plump up your skin. Drinking at least 2 litres of water a day is always important, but sometimes we forget when it’s cold outside, and all we want is a warm cup of hot chocolate! Make yourself a big mug of your favourite herbal tea to help hit your hydration goals – your body and skin will thank you for it!
3. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
We’re constantly going from the harsh winter winds to dry indoor heat during Winter, leading to our skin drying out and dehydrating. To counteract this, you need to ensure you’re giving your skin ample moisture in the morning and at night. Start with a serum to deeply penetrate your cells, like our lightweight Repair & Glow Serum which addresses a multitude of skin concerns such as smoothness, inflammation, firmness, oiliness and redness! Lock this goodness in with our Hydra Rejuvenating Cream – it acts as a shield to the elements, deeply hydrating your skin with the help of winter skin saviours, Jojoba Oil, and Shea Butter.
4. Exfoliate your worries away
When we think of exfoliation, many of us think of harsh, grainy exfoliators that can damage our skin, but did you know that you can exfoliate your skin without this? Naturally occurring enzymes in both Pineapple and Papaya help to exfoliate without physically scrubbing your skin! Our Ultra Purifying Gel Cleanser contains both Pineapple and Papaya extracts that help to exfoliate away any dead, dry skin cells – giving you smooth, glowing skin!
5. Look after your lips
We’ve all dealt with dry, chapped and cracked lips thanks to the winter wind, and it’s painful! Ensure you’re carrying a nourishing lip balm that’s a little thicker than what you may use in Summer – the skin on our lips is so thin and we need to give it a physical barrier of protection!
Okay, so the sun isn’t out for many of the Winter months, but the UV rays still are! Make sure you’re sunscreening it up with SPF30+ whenever you’re outside and using your Anti-Aging Retinol Serum at night to ensure you are keeping your skin youthful and free from damage.
